UCLA Medical Students complete summer research with Project SEMILLA

As Project SEMILLA continues to develop educational materials on emergency themes, an important question is how to disseminate them most effectively. Project SEMILLA members designed a survey of Nicaraguan physicians and medical students to evaluate comfort with internet-based resources to decide whether internet-based dissemination of course materials was feasible. UCLA Medical Students Max Caccese and Ava Sun were chosen by the Center for World Health at UCLA as the recipients of a summer research award that allowed them to spend the summer of 2014 in Leon, Nicaragua working on this project. Dr. Orlando Morales at UNAN Leon and Dr. Carolina Ulloa at UNAN Managua guided them through the survey collection. They surveyed over 200 Nicaraguan physicians and trainees in three cities. Initial results were presented at the UCLA Josiah Brown Poster Fair on July 31, 2014.
